Immensely grateful to the Mokksha gallery Owner sir and Priya madam, gallery staffs and the teacher-artist Saranya madam If your dream is to linger every single day along with your favourite god, then please learn the divine art of Thanjavur painting from this renowned gallery. This is the gallery that both sells and teaches blissful paintings. Pros are the flexibility in learning schedules(they will arrange the classes based on your availability. This is a great blessing for working people to learn the art), fees includes materials like original gold foil, calm and peaceful atmosphere, quality guidance from the experienced teacher who builds you strongly and firmly from scratch and dust (I have not done any painting/drawing course before) and empathetic staffs like Kowsalya, Anand anna. No qualification or degree is expected in this gallery except your practice and curiosity to learn. So, anybody who has desire to learn Thanjavur painting can walk into this gallery without hesitation. I learnt my first Painting - Goddess Saraswati from Saranya madam. She made me to prepare muck, trained me to do cone work, applying gold foil and ofcourse the toughest yet the loveliest part, painting the goddess. Saraswathi painting was a tough challenge for me as different hues of white(Whitish grey swan, Pinkish white saree) and painting veena with accuracy were the demands of the painting. The teacher gave me confidence and was very open minded to accept my ideas to do the painting. However, she took immense efforts in explaining the difference between original Thanjavur painting and the trendy commercial paintings, thereby cherishing the tradition of our soil. Since I dont know Mehendi work, I struggled a lot in learning cone work. It started with inner shame and awkwardness but ended with the bliss of learning because of teacher's patience. The teacher was very generous and kindled interest in paying attention to learn the iconography of the goddess which we wish to paint, so that there will be clarity in what we do and why we do. She was the one who told me the difference between the divine Kamalathmika and the majestic Gajalakshmi. My interest in learning the meaning and purpose of worshipping different Hindu gods and goddesses started from this learning. From the person who doesnt know how to mix the paint properly, I was made into a person who is able to paint eyeballs of the goddess confidently. Heartfelt gratitude and immense respect to Mokksha art gallery and my guru, Saranya madam. Bought a Tanjore painting of Murugan Valli Deivanai. I am really very happy about their art work and I was actually searching for this kinda pic with all but other places had lord murugar alone with out consorts.
